Te Kowhiringa I The Opportunity
The Data Analyst/Insights Analyst joins a multidisciplinary Service Evaluation team of four, bringing specialist quantitative analysis, data visualisation, and business intelligence expertise to complement the team's qualitative, mixed-methods, research, and evaluation capabilities. Working closely with service leaders, evaluators, researchers, and stakeholders, the role contributes to service improvement, outcome measurement, organisational learning, and evidence-informed decision-making through high-quality data analysis, dashboard development, and reporting.
Reporting to the Service and Evaluation Manager, this role will support organisational performance monitoring, evaluation activities, and strategic decision-making by transforming complex data into meaningful and actionable insights. We are seeking someone with strong quantitative analytical skills who is confident working with large datasets, building and maintaining dashboards, and using tools such as Excel, Power BI, and emerging AI technologies to improve reporting, analysis, and organisational insight.
The role is responsible for:
Analysing quantitative data from a range of organisational systems and data sources.
Developing, maintaining, and enhancing dashboards, reports, and data visualisations using Power BI and Excel.
Supporting the monitoring and reporting of organisational performance indicators, outcomes, and service metrics.
Extracting, cleaning, validating, and managing data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
Identifying trends, patterns, and opportunities that support service improvement and organisational learning.
Collaborating with evaluators, researchers, and service leaders to support research, evaluation, and performance measurement activities.
Translating complex data into clear, engaging, and actionable insights for a range of audiences.
Exploring and applying AI-enabled and digital tools to improve analytical efficiency, reporting processes, and business intelligence capability.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of data systems, reporting processes, and organisational data capability.
This role is 0.5 FTE (20 hours per week), with flexible working arrangements available across Monday to Friday, in consultation with the Service and Evaluation Manager.

Essential Qualifications
A tertiary qualification in Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Intelligence, Information Management, Economics, Public Health, Research, Social Sciences, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
Essential Experience
Experience analysing and interpreting quantitative data.
Experience developing reports, dashboards and performance measures.
Experience working with large and complex datasets.
Experience translating data into meaningful insights that support decision-making.
Experience engaging with stakeholders to understand reporting and information needs.
Essential Skills
Advanced Excel skills, including Power Query, pivot tables, data modelling, complex formulas, and analysis of large datasets.
Strong Power BI capability, including dashboard design, data modelling, DAX measures, and report automation.
Demonstrated experience in quantitative data analysis and interpretation.
Experience developing and maintaining performance dashboards and management reporting.
Ability to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities from complex datasets and translate findings into actionable insights.
Confidence using AI and digital tools to improve analytical efficiency, reporting, and insight generation.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
Desirable
Experience using SQL or other database querying tools.
Experience within the health, social services, community or not-for-profit sectors.
Knowledge of evaluation, outcomes measurement and impact reporting.
Microsoft Power BI certification or similar business intelligence certification.
