Te Kowhiringa I The Opportunity
The opportunity exists for an experienced health and safety partner to join our team at Presbyterian Support Northern as we move into an exciting phase of our strategy. The role will be focussed on working with all PSN managers and teams to support embedding our newly refreshed health and safety system. This role will very much focus on providing coaching and empowering our people to make decisions that support them to do their work safely.
The role will also be instrumental in supporting the rollout and embedding of the newly refreshed health and safety critical risk program.
You will also be:
- Championing, and providing responsive, pragmatic, expertise, support and guidance on health and practices, ensuring understanding and correct application across all PSN services and sites, in context of PSN practices.
- Providing coaching and advice, while collaborating with both management and workers to ensure regulatory compliance is achieved with the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015) and other applicable legislation, as well as the embedding of a Health and Safety culture.
Ngā pūkenga kei a koe I Your Skills and Experience
We are looking for a candidate that can hit the ground running with a strong technical knowledge and proven background in creating health and safety change.
You will have at least 5 years of experience in a generalist health and safety role alongside A degree, NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Health or the equivalent level of experience gained through professional experience working in health and safety.
The candidate should have
- Demonstrated incident investigation skills and experience with root cause analysis techniques.
- Sound understanding of Risk Management and its application.
- Confident in developing and facilitating training and presenting to groups.
- Excellent computer literacy in all Microsoft suite programs.
- Proven experience in coaching or training.
- Experience developing Health and Safety policies, procedures, and proven skills in business writing and communication.
- Effective management of workload and time prioritisation.
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate with senior leaders, managers and staff, and influence effectively with empathy, both verbally and in writing.
- Uses sound judgement and is innovative and creative in approach and thinking.
- Ability to manage work across a multi-site work environment. Works collaboratively and establishes positive relationships.
- Full NZ Driver’s Licence.
