Senior Advisor Shine RESPOND and VIP National Trainer
Shine is seeking a Senior Advisor Shine RESPOND and VIP National Trainer to join our Education and Training Team. This is a 6-month fixed-term position to cover parental leave.

Shine (Safer Homes in New Zealand Everyday) is a specialist family violence service provider which offers a range of services, all with the primary aim of supporting people experiencing family violence, to become safer. The Shine Education and Training Team provides training and education programmes which include Shine RESPOND, community professional training, as well as our DVFREE workplace programme.

Te Kowhiringa I The Opportunity
In this role, you will:
- Lead Shine’s contract with Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, working alongside hospital-based VIP Coordinators and the National VIP Team to ensure the quality and sustainability of the Violence Intervention Programme (VIP).
- Develop and deliver specialist training through Shine RESPOND, community workshops, and in-house programmes on topics relating to family violence, tailored to a wide range of audiences.
Ngā pūkenga kei a koe I Your Skills and Experience
- A relevant tertiary qualification (ideally postgraduate) in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Women’s Studies, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in family violence response, with a strong understanding of coercive control, entrapment, and resistance.
- Proven training/facilitation experience with confidence in adult education.
- Knowledge and respect for te reo Māori me ōna tikanga and experience in kaupapa Māori approaches.
- NZ Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching (Level 4/5) or equivalent (an advantage).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Competency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint (intermediate level).
- A full, clean NZ driver’s licence
