Shine (Safer Homes in New Zealand Everyday) is a specialist family violence service provider which offers a range of services, all with the primary aim of supporting people experiencing family violence, to become safer. The Shine Education and Training Team offers a variety of training and education programmes which include Shine RESPOND, community professional training, as well as our DVFREE workplace programme.

Te Kowhiringa I The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced trainer/educator with experience working in the family violence response sector. Is that you?
- Work with our team to help create NZ workplaces that are safe and supportive for employees who experience family violence
- Based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch and possibly with some travel within NZ
- Contract position (paid per training delivery)
In this role you will deliver a set DVFREE training package for managers and ‘First Responders’, who are the people within a workplace that support employees experiencing family violence.
You will deliver DVFREE training workshops in your region and online and ideally also be available to travel and deliver DVFREE training elsewhere in NZ as needed. In conjunction with the DVFREE team, you will liaise with client employers to schedule and deliver training workshops, and provide feedback so that training content and resources can be continually improved.
The ideal candidate will have all or some or the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, ideally with postgraduate qualifications in one or more of the following: Psychology, Health, Social Work, Counselling, Women’s Studies, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in the family violence field
- A thorough understanding of family violence that aligns with the Family Violence Entry to Expert Capability Framework, at least to an enhanced level, is required, particularly around the dynamics of family violence - coercive control, entrapment and resistance
- Training experience with confidence and a proven ability in facilitating interactive training on family violence topics
- A NZ Certificate in Adult and Tertiary Teaching level 4 or 5 or similar is an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer literate to intermediate level in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and access to stable internet connection
- A full, clean NZ driver’s licence with a reliable vehicle
